The engine cover originates from the 2011 Virgin Racing MVR‑02, the final chassis to compete under the Virgin identity before the team’s transition into Marussia F1. Constructed from race‑used carbon composite bodywork and retaining its original workshop markings, the panel carries direct provenance linking it to both Timo Glock (#24) and Jérôme D’Ambrosio (#25) throughout their 2011 World Championship campaign.

GJohn’s hand‑painted intervention transforms this historic component into a dual‑sided tribute to the drivers, the season, and the team’s final chapter. Crafted in the Victorian process of Glue Chipped Glass, invented in the late 19th century as a technique for creating fern-like or icy textures on glass, and then gilded with 24 carat gold leaf, this piece truly is a unique artistic creation. Bringing this 125-year-old process into the 21st century for the creation of artistic works is an undoubtedly rare and skilled application of this craft. In this piece Sir Lewis is looking over his seven world championships represented by abalone stars and painted in the colours of McLaren and Mercedes Formula One teams. In addition to the chipping and abalone on the rear of the glass, Sir Lewis is wearing one of his diamond nose studs on the front of the glass, represented here in the form of a glass crystal. This piece is therefore mounted behind a 2mm sheet of non-reflective Art Glass, for protection.

About the artist

Based in Hertfordshire Tom Hill is a British sculptor who specialises in metal. His sculptures can be found in a number of public spaces all over the UK. Passionate about F1 and Motorsports Tom created this incredible piece for Sleeping with Art, before Escapade Silverstone opened and the piece has been a permanent feature from launch.

A very unique and special work of art, the buyer will take home a piece of Escapade Silverstone’s history.

Engraved on his collar is one of Murray’s most memorable quotes:

About the artist

Margot is a London based sculptor. She has worked on commissions internationally as well as commercial based commissions. Her work is a truthful rendition of the subject, carving natural grooves in her work to show emotion and express the effect of time. Her work can be found in private members clubs and public spaces. It would also fit well in hotels, yachts and public spaces.

As Margot grew up in Versailles, just outside of Paris, where her fascination with the palace gardens inspired her passion as a sculptor. She studied a degree in technical arts and special effects at Wimbledon college of art in London, gaining a great knowledge in both figurative sculpture and the various technical skills that surround the discipline. She was taught by Allan Sly whose work can be seen around London. She creates lifelike sculptures in highly naturalistic poses. “Capturing likeness is one of Margot’s real Talent […] She is a young talent who has worked for leading British sculptors and is attracting Patrons for commissions in her own right.”

Margot has since established herself as a commission based artist, doing portraits of the likes of Thierry Henry, Edward Lear and AA Milne, whilst also working commercially for numerous established artists as well as being a sculptor for Madame Tussaud’s. With an eye for form and a passion for clay, making dreams come reality is one of Margot’s life mission.

Margot enjoys the challenges set by working to commission. Comfortable in a variety of scales, her works can accommodate every environment.

About the Artist

Simon Bosworth is a sculptor who works in stone and composite stone. He creates semi-abstract figurative forms. Drawing inspiration from his world travels, love of archaeology and the 20th century modernism movement and popular culture.

Simon went to Ravensbourne Art College London in the early eighties. After graduation he started work, illustrating books. He then worked as a visualiser, designer, and finally became an art director.

After a few years, he left the UK and travelled the world for two years. Visiting major art galleries and archaeological sites on his travels. On his return he soon landed another job as an art director.

In 2000 he left mainstream advertising and set up a small boutique agency at the beginning of the dot-com boom. After 12 years he went back into advertising. As a creative director he helped create integrated campaigns for Microsoft, BMW, Tesco, The Labour Party, British Gas, AXA insurance, RSPCA, WaterAid, Save The Children, The Royal British Legion and many more.

He still works commercially and recently has gone back to his roots and illustrated a children’s book for Harper Collins publishers.
